Physical Appearance: Hotaru is a very awkward looking man, if he wasn?t in the habbit of walking hunched over like a gorilla he would stand even more as a giant among everyone around him which makes him even more difficult to approach when he is in a more serious and tense modd and standing erect. Hotaru?s body is riddled with scars from the forth shinobi war, as well as it is rippling with muscles. Now back to the walking like a gorilla comment since we seemed to have mentioned it and just moved one? Hotaru was born as a genetic freak in some ways like his arms are extended more then they should be, for example the average persons finger tips touch at their mid thighs when standing Hotaru?s touch the bottoms of his knees, and as a child he had learned to walk using his arms as supports, and it grew into a lazy habbit of his to always walk hunched basically on all fours since he?d also use his arms seeing it as a more efficient, and faster way to travel. Asside from his arms, his many scars, and rather largeness for a ninja Hotaru is a relatively normal looking guy his face usually has a friendly and welcoming look to it where he seems to embrace those around him into its static.

Hotaru was born in one of the terms of peace for the hidden cloud village, but being that he was born into a village that had been involved with the two prior ninja wars, and his father being one of the shinobi to participate in the third great shinobi war he had plans for Hotaru to become a great militant ninja incase another war was to break out in his son?s time.
Hotaru was a quick learner when it came to walking since he had such long arms, and those helped him to keep himself stable much like training wheels, but they also gave him the habit of being hunched over naturally.
Hotaru was taught from his dad that in battle the main thing a shinobi should try and master was at least two areas of fighting, and also to utilize his own body. See Hotaru had been born with a deformed body where his arms where longer then should have been, and his shoulders wider then should have been also. Since Hotaru was not yet old enough to truly learn any jutsu, or any chakra control for that matter Hotaru?s father tried to teach him the fundamentals of hand to hand combat, and how to use his reach as an advantage when it came to just punching.
When it came to Hotaru?s early life socialization there was not much to be left, and wanted there. Hotaru was always made fun of and picked on as a child due to his awkward appearance, and walking style. This had driven Hotaru away from being around the other children, and into his house with his father, so he could at least in the future earn the respect of his peers.
A year before going into the academy Hotaru requested that his father help teach him how to use some jutsu, but his father said that instead of helping him learn what he was going to be learning from the academy jutsu wise Hotaru?s father taught him the fundamentals of chakra control, and how to walk up trees, and such.
Academy Life----
Hotaru now eleven was entering the academy where he had learned just how mean the other kids could be, but his teacher seemed more then accepting of Hotaru, and gave him praise for always paying attention, and his abilities to learn jutsu quickly.
However Tetsu saw these jutsu to be not as usefull, as his teacher made them out to be, and Hotaru kept prodding his father asking to learn real jutsu, and his father decided that if he could perform the first jutsu he was goin to teach him, that he?d teach him a second, and so Hotaru began to become a greater shinobi, and quickly rose to Genin levels even at the academy level. Every day Hotaru?s father if home would watch his son practice, and perform the shock punch and become better at it each time, as he gained more control over the lightning element. Hotaru now acknowledged by his father as a shinobi for learning his first element jutsu was now going to learn his first Genin level Jutsu which had been the Jolt clamp. Hotaru quickly caught on and learned the jolt clamp since it had been just an evolved adaptation of the shock punch his father had taught him, and he then moved on to the last jutsu he would learn from his father, and that was the flying shock. The reasoning behind Hotaru?s father teaching him a ranged jutsu for a change was so that Hotaru could begin to round his fighting style, and skills out of the realm of just close quarters.
Sure Hotaru wasn?t the most popular in his class, but he felt that the fact that he was going to graduate before the rest of his class validated their remarks of him being a freak, and a teachers pet as just being jealous, and this mindset quickly boosted Hotaru?s ego, and was setting him up for difficulties in the near future as a team player.
Genin Life----
Hotaru making astonishing progress through learning the academy jutsu, and showing great potential outside of the academy by learning three lightning jutsu two of which where genin level now starts as a genin at the age of twelve. Hotaru was placed into a team with one other genin, a Chuunin, and the Jounin instructor.
Hotaru was quickly disliked by his fellow team members not for the fact that he looked different they where more accepting then his juvenile peers from the academy, but they had disliked him for the fact that he was stuck up, and acted even talked as if he where better then them. However Hotaru?s views of himself like that where quickly snuffed out by his jounin instructor who had taken Hotaru out for ?spar? but it was more of a beat down fraught with misleading hopes such as allowing Hotaru to land some of his attacks, and jutsu just to shrug it off infront of him, and then dismantle him mentally by hitting him with the same paralyzing jolt clamp with enough voltage to paralyze the body for a few hours. Hotaru was left on the ground paralyzed with the words of his jounin instructor swimming in his mind ?Sure you where the big dog as an academy student, and you have much potential, but remember there are ninja who can kill you in one move, and not be affected by your own.
Hotaru was inspired by those words, and it caused him to keep his mouth shut about himself, and any judgements his mind tried to pass on others were thrown to the back of his mind. All Hotaru focused on was doing what he was told by his team during missions, and pushing himself through training, and learning the new jutsu his instructor had told him would help him accel through the Chuunin exams, and also make him a better ninja.
Surely enough as the chuunin exams rolled around Hotaru was put into them, and thanks to the teachings of his instructor he had passed in what his instructor called an electrifying performance.
Chuunin Life----
Hotaru age thirteen, after his first attempt of the chuunin exams is now a chuunin feels that if he is to truly be a usefull ninja he should learn how to utilize another elemnt. And from failed attempts of other elements such as futon, and suiton Hotaru was found to be a Katon user, and as such Hotaru was to learn jutsu using the fire elemnt, but his instructor said that a great ninja needs balance, and that he should learn how to use more taijutsu. Punches, kicks, flare ups all of these where to be thrown into Hotaru?s fighting style, and with this Hotaru was to start by practicing on straw dummies until he would have been able to light them aflame with one contact.
Hotaru practiced day after day, week after week for the next two months he was able to get the flames to erupt from his shots, but being that fire was not his main element this was taking him more time then lightning. Sure enough though Hotaru was able to break that barrier of using fire, and was to move onto other fire jutsu, as well as more advanced lightning jutsu.
Unknown to Hotaru his instructor had been pushing it with the village authorities for the past two years to have Hotaru become ANBU for being able to perform well as a single unit, and act effectively in a group, and the Raikage of the time decided to give him the Okay. And so Hotaru?s instructor came to him after they?re last mission together, and informed him of what had happened, and it flattered Hotaru who thanked his instructor many times, and looked forward to being more then what he was the day before.
ANBU----
Hotaru had just been promoted to ANBU at the age of sixteen, and war was now broken out into the lands, and so as his father had predicted even their country was pulled into the frey. Hotaru was issued out as one of the front line fighters in the war, and found his fair share of blood, as well as injuries. Through out the war Hotaru kept pushing himself for the thought that his father was somewhere on the same battlefield as him, and if he was to falter he would disappoint his father.
As the war came closer and closer to an end Hotaru found the experience to be fenominal, and began to enjoy the fighting more then anything, as well as unnoticed to him began to develop the ability to perform handseals and jutsu with one hand while he held his enemies off with his other. Hotaru?s enjoyment of the war turned bitter to him in the matter of a few moments, as he faught his way to his fathers side in what would be his father?s last fight. Hotaru watched as his father was frozen by a genjutsu, and was then cut down by the blade of another leaf ninja. Hotaru exploded into a rage from this, for the first time his emotions got the best of him, and he dashed first at the genjutsu user picking up four senbons from one of his comrades corpses, and held two in each hand. Striking the senbons across eachother at fast speeds, and focusing his chakra into each strike across the senbons until he built up a large charge, and stopped infront of the ninja thrusting the senbons infront of him stopping short, as he saw the terror in his eyes, as he unleashed a ball of lightning into his stomach which had burnt a hole through him. Hotaru then built up just a charge of electricity into his right fist using the senbons as conduits for the charge, and spun around punching the ninja with the sword in the face discharging the electricity into his skull.
Shortly after the loss of his father Hotaru was called back to the country for the facts where that the war was at an end. Hotaru was to meet with the riakage for talks of more serious matters. The Raikage told Hotaru that he was dieing for the Hokage had struck a fatal blow, and that the village would need a new raikage. The raikage then went on to say that he knows him and Hotaru had never talked before, but that he had seen how he had grown over the past two years of war, and how much he had advanced as a ninja, and even surpassed Jounin status as far as his strength and jutsus went.
Kage Life----
Hotaru was honored by the sudden promotion from the former Raikage, but there where many who kept their opinions reserved until the Raikage finaly passed. Hotaru kept visiting the Raikage day after day to talk about business, and what his duties where to be as Raikage. Upon his last visit the Raikage had told Hotaru two things, the first was that he should look into the locked drawer of his desk, and the second was to watch out for the other ninja for feelings may be spoiled. With that the former Raikage past, and so Hotaru was left to do two things the first was easy enough, as Hotaru opened the drawer what he found was a gift that had amazed him, on the top of it read ?This is meant to be a means to protect the village and its inhabitants.? As Hotaru opened the scroll he found that there where many jutsu in there a lot of them where things he had only heard of being used by the former Raikage's.
And so the second warning of the former Raikage?s came into focus, as the older ninja in the village began to rise up, and oppose having Hotaru as Raikage, but Hotaru wanted none of that, and burst into one of the meetings and had one thing to say before he left the room to think, and that was ?If you have any problems with me being Raikage, and feel you would be better then me as Raikage come to my office or find me in town, and challenge me for the position of Raikage, but I warn you it will be to the death, and if you feel you are unable to do as much then please stop this foolishness.?.
Three months after coming into the meeting, and disrupting the groups uprising Hotaru found two men at the front of his office wanting to challenge him, but Hotaru was not without improvements from the ninja he was in the war with the combination of the new Jutsu he learned, and two items he had invested time into making Hotaru gladly accepted the mens challenge, and also had it where they where to fight him two on one just to make it fair.
Hotaru took the men to an area void of people outside the village kniowing that the jutsu he was going to perform would cause too much damage if used in the village. The men had an eager look in their eyes, as they came at Hotaru he simply sighed ?I am sorry you two, but you must be made an example of.? Hotaru said, as he began to perform a series of hand seals, and then stopped as both the men came within a foot of him ?Lightning Slash!? Hotaru yelled, as he threw his arm out in the mens direction, and unleashed a volley of lightning bolts that hit the two opposing him, after the exlplosive strikes subsided Hotaru pulled out a chakra jar, and stabbed it into one of the men?s chests linking it into their chakra network, and filling the jar with a glowing blue energy.
After his display of ability to the rest of the ninja community Hotaru found that no one else was coming for his position as Raikage, and so Hotaru went on doing his duties as Raikage even in between his occasional sprelunkings outside the village he was able to keep everything running fine like a artist.
